A handout accompanies most lessons.  Each handout contains the important messages from the corresponding lesson and sometimes food storage guidelines.  The handout is used at the end of the lesson to review important content.  The handout is essential to teaching Eating Smart • Being Active. Handouts are available in English and Spanish.

A couple of important notes about handouts:

  • Lesson 1 – Welcome to Eating Smart • Being Active and Lesson 9 – Celebrate! Eat Smart & Be Active DO NOT have a handout.  They only have a worksheet.
  • Lesson 2 – Get Moving! has 2 handouts and 1 worksheet.  The 2 handouts are 1) the standard lesson handout; and, 2) the Physical Activity handout.  The Physical Activity handout is sold separately from the Get Moving! worksheet and handout but is an important piece of the lesson.  This handout includes all of the moves for the physical activity segments of the lessons and serves as a reference for participants to be active when at home.
  • Lesson 4 – Fruits & Veggies: Half Your Plate also has 2 handouts and 1 worksheet.  The 2 handouts are 1) the standard lesson handout; and, 2) the Farmers’ Market handout.  The Farmers’ Market handout is sold separately from this lesson’s worksheet and handout but is an important material to the lesson during the months of the year in which educators will be teaching participants about Farmers’ Markets.  The Lesson 4 lesson plan describes in detail when to teach about Farmers’ Markets.
